The integrated Windows terminal is an interactive PowerShell shell. It retains directories, variables and processes while open. Create multiple tabs to separate development servers, tests and commands. A new shell starts in the selected repository root.
- Open Terminal from the activity bar or use Ctrl+`.
- Check the current directory before running commands.
- Add a tab for a second process and name it so you can recognize it.
- Use Ctrl+C to interrupt a command; exit closes the shell.
Open an external terminal#
The Windows Terminal action opens a window in the current directory. The app reports the launch result and can fall back to PowerShell when Windows Terminal is unavailable. The external program is separate from integrated tabs.
Run profiles retain directories, variables and repeatable commands. Opening a profile does not automatically execute commands; starting it is explicit.

If the command starts in the wrong place#
Each tab retains its own directory; changing the IDE project does not move an already open shell. Check the prompt or create a new tab in the correct project. After restarting Code Weaver, open a new shell and check its directory before resuming your commands.
