Completion and language tooling
Understand runtimes, semantic servers, formatting and local fallbacks.
Three different layers#
Syntax highlighting does not require running the program. Local completion uses project words and symbols. An LSP server adds semantic knowledge, diagnostics, definitions and refactoring; compiling or running also requires the language runtime or SDK.
Code Weaver offers tooling for JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, Java, PHP, Python, C/C++, Go, Rust, HTML, CSS, JSON and YAML. Check that the language server is available and that your project has the configuration needed for the features you want to use.
Check before configuring#
If the server does not respond, check its executable path, required SDK and project validity. If a tool is missing, install it and check that the IDE recognizes its location before trying again.
- Open Getting started and product status to see detected runtimes.
- Check the project’s language-server configuration.
- Open a source file and use Ctrl+Space, F12 and Problems to verify behavior.
Formatting that follows the project#
Alt+Shift+F formats the document; Ctrl+Alt+F formats a selection. Prettier covers supported web formats and respects project configuration; other languages use their server or formatter. Python uses Ruff when available and SQL uses the connection’s dialect.
Review the result in the editor before saving. If you continued typing and formatting was not applied, repeat the command on the updated text.
