Each project can contain several conversations with independent drafts. Titles, search, pins, logical folders and tags help you find them. Archiving preserves history; removing a logical folder leaves its conversations available without the folder.
The initial title is derived locally from the question without an extra AI call. Manually renamed titles are respected. Linking a Codex conversation is explicit and is not automatic synchronization of the ChatGPT cloud.
Explore an alternative while retaining the original#
A branch inherits model and effort, while permissions start at Ask for approval. Comparing saved answers does not start another AI request.
- Open a message’s actions and choose branch, edit or regenerate.
- Review the new version and explicitly send it when ready.
- Use Conversation tools → Comparison to place saved answers side by side.
Attachments and archives have clear boundaries#
Attach PNG, JPEG and WebP images with a preview. Limits are 2 MiB and 16 million pixels per image, six images and 4 MiB per request. Removing an image from a draft does not delete attachments from already sent messages.
Archives and backups offers plain JSON, Markdown or a portable encrypted archive. Import previews the content, maps folders and creates a new project. Permissions and native links are not automatically reactivated; source files and Codex credentials are not part of the chat archive.
