Search, replace and refactor
Move from a match to a multi-file change, with a preview and conflict checks.
Find the right place#
Ctrl+F searches a file; Ctrl+Shift+F searches the project. Match case, use regular expressions and include or exclude paths. Multi-project search keeps files from different folders distinct and opens the result’s line.
| Keys | Action |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+F | Find in file |
| Ctrl+Shift+F | Search the project |
| Ctrl+Shift+H | Replace across files |
Replace after seeing the result#
Regular expressions use JavaScript Unicode syntax and support groups such as $1. A file changed after the preview requires a fresh preview. Editor comparison instead copies a single hunk between open files or temporary text; it is not a Git merge.
- Open Replace in repository and enter search, replacement and filters.
- Prepare the preview and compare complete before/after lines.
- Select files or individual matches, then apply only the reviewed ones.
Rename a symbol, not a word#
F2 requests a semantic rename; Shift+F12 finds references and Ctrl+. opens fixes and refactorings. These depend on the language server and indexed project. Save buffers before preparing multi-file changes and review the preview.
If no result arrives, check that the language server is available and the project is valid. Text replacement does not provide the same guarantees as semantic renaming.
